Portsmouth Mind was founded in 1965 and since then has developed into a significant provider of services in Portsmouth.

We are an independent charity working within Portsmouth City. We are affiliated to National Mind which provides information and support, and campaigns to improve policy and attitudes.

We are part of a network of over 200 Local Mind Associations throughout England and Wales and maintain strong links with Mind on both a local and national level. We work with our local statutory partners, Portsmouth Primary Care Trust and Portsmouth City Council. The organisation employs paid staff to manage and develop its services. Funding is received from social services, donations, fund raising and from our training programme.

Portsmouth Mind is committed to the development of high quality services and works within the framework of the Mind Quality System. We strongly believe in involving and consulting service users about all aspects of Portsmouth Mind’s work.
